Personal Care Items for traveling (things you didn’t know you needed)
In case you haven’t read Part 1 - Documents & Communication for Traveling or Part 2 - Clothing & Accessories for Traveling
* Be sure to read them before Part 3
Toiletries and personal preferences abound here. I bring plenty of reef-safe sunscreen (spray on for my back if traveling solo), moisturizer, desired hygiene or personal care items, conditioner, lip balm, toothbrush cover, etc. Think protection and hydration. It is a lot easier to bring small amounts of what you love than to find it at an inconvenient time. I put all my spillables in individual bags and then into a larger waterproof pouch.
Hydration, Refillable water bottles, insulated cups (think iced tea, coffee and larger ice cubes, filter bottles, and collapsible water bottles are all excellent options. Pick at least two. I drink a lot of water with at least one electrolyte enhancer daily.
Insect Repellent, Insects love me. Be sure to bring this with you and use it before you go out and reapply as needed.
First Aid Kit, with simple essentials for sure.
Medications, prescription, and over-the-counter options. I prepare myself for how I might be feeling when no stores are in sight or open. My examples are Benadryl, non-drowsy Dramamine (not available in Costa Rica), Imodium A-D, Eyedrops, and Tylenol. Good to have a little snack with you so you don’t have to take anything on an empty stomach.
